What kind of credit score do you need to get a charge card for a dept. store in the mall?

I've applied in the past like a few years back for various dept. stores and was denied. Ive since quit applying for them and my credit score has risen as well. My credit score is better now in the mid 6's. What are my chances of getting a credit card with anyone. Ive never had a credit card before can i get one now with my credit score?Who, why, what , when and where?

Credit scores have gone higher to be rated good.
Now a good score is in the 700's.
All retail credit cards are around 22%, so if you borrow $1000 it will take well over 6 years to pay it off by paying the minimum. Is it worth it?
If you want a credit card, go to your bank a get a secured one. You put in say $500 of your own money, make a charge, pay it off every month or so and keep it current and you will improve your credit score.

There are three credit bureaus: Trans Union, Experion, and Equifax. The credit score can be calculated separately for each bureau. Scores run from 450 to 850. Any score above 720 walks on water and can get pretty much any loan if he has income and not to loaded down with debt already. A score below 600 becomes iffy. Depends on the store offering the credit how low they want to do. The lower scores of course are riskier due to greater likelihood that the bill may be paid late or not at all.
