What is a good Real Estate Company to work for?

I am looking to get into RE School starting on November 16th. I was planning on working for my uncle at his RE Office but have not heard back from him. So I was wondering if anyone can reccomend a good RE Company that I could look into working for. I am also looking for one that would help me pay for school.

Also, what is a decent split (i think thats what you call it) for a new real estate agent and how long until it becomes 50/50?

Hello Kris,

I am a REALTOR in NC and what I would recommend is shop around even if you love the first company you visit. Remember you are the interviewer and you are interviewing the company not the other way around. Training and office support is very important as a new agent. Talk to the other agents in the office or pick up business card at the front and call them (most will likely be out of the office). Ask why they chose the company, how long they been there, or other important questions.

The company I work for, started out at 70/30 and then can earn more money on top of it. I have a sheet of twenty good questions to ask the BIC during interview. If you like, I could explain more. You may email me at csams4homes@gmail.com and we can set a time to discuss this further. I wish you luck in your new journey and much success to come your way!

Talk to agent in your area, some small local offices can be the best, and sometimes the big name offices like RE/MAX and Coldwell Banker can be the best. It just depends on your area. FYI you should not have to take a split less then 50/50 anywhere. If you are giving your broker more then half your commission you are getting ripped off. In my area most places start with a 70/30 split. And a lot of places charge a monthly fee, or a set $$ fee for each transaction and you keep 100% of the commission. Shop around, take to agents and brokers and find the deal that works best for you.

While attending Real Estate School I was offered to work for several different companies. I would apply to several different companies and go with the one giving you the most referrals and opportunities to go for your brokers license and I would ask about being able to eventually ( you need to be a licensed realtor for five years first) go for you brokers licenses. Brokers have more access to more home thus making more money. Best Wishes and welcome to the wonderful world of real estate.

I would recommend a company that offers you training. Not all companies do this. Century 21, Keller Williams are two that offer good training.

Interview a few companies and find out what splits they are willing to give you. Normally most new agents start at 50 - 50 and then go up based on the volume of homes sold.
