Repatriation of Gains from India to USA after paying taxes ?

I have a owned a house for more than 7 years in India that I want to sell. I realize that I can repatriate all the money that I had sent to buy the house but can I bring in the gains?. I will be paying the capital gains tax there in India. Do I still have to pay taxes here in USA and if so how much percentage will I have to pay. Will it make a difference if I use that money to pay off my mortgage here in USA.
